Campanile of St. John’s Church

IMG_0051Extremely beautiful panorama of the city can admire the tallest building in the Old Town – Campanile of St. John’s Church. By the campanile will rise 193 authentic wooden stairs. From the bell tower of the Old Town looks like we climbed the air balloon. There is a modern lift that will lift you up to 45 m in height. The mighty bell tower, together with the baroque facade of St. John’s Church, is a symbol of Vilnius University. It is the highest (68 m.) and most splendid bell tower in Vilnius Old Town, dominating its panorama. Built in renaissance style at the end of the 16th century, it was greatly damaged by the file of 1737 (traces of which are still visible in the shaft) and subsequently the upper portions were rebuilt in baroque style.
